I start my blog with planning tips the way I start my next adventure.
As someone who has traveled to many places, I would like to share with you some tips that I have gathered and experienced myself in order to have a blast on your upcoming trip.
Ask yourself the following questions:
1. Where do you really want to go?
You don't have to go where your friends has gone. You can also where they have gone before so you can ask for tips, budgets and dangers. I read a lot and it helped me create an interest in going to a certain city. I read its history, people, activities available, scenery, and the easiness of getting there. But my main compass is F-O-O-D! All I know is a place is never boring unless it offers boring food choices.
2. What do you really want to see?
I am a history geek or truth be told, I love ancient gossips and historical events that shaped one's nation and the leader who made it happen. I can spend the whole day in the British Museum staring at the intricacy of the paintings and really old artifacts. I once had a neck sprain for staring at the ceiling of the Louvre Museum for almost 30 minutes.
I so love going to famous landmarks. I would just stand in the middle, close my eyes, hug my belongings, breathe deeply and relax. I think of all the things I did from planning to saving in order to get where I am standing at the moment.
I love going to off-the-beaten paths. actually no, I always get lost, and it's always one of the highlights of my trips!
I have so many interests and it is the main reason why I love wandering around.
So choose what you want to see and not what others have seen or suggested you. They all come second to your own interests.

3. What kind of experiences are you looking for?
Do you want to see culture? Taste the food? Get to the club scene? Do water or extreme sports? Shop around? What about the famous landmarks and events?
Are you into a relaxing environment? Can you survive into a place full of people? Are you a nature lover?
You can do many things in one area so check out all the interesting blogs around as well as trip packages that agencies offer and this will help you shape up your itinerary.
I do a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 activities in once place depending on its vibrancy and how I am feeling at the moment.
I was in Mykonos for the second to the last leg of my Grand European Tour in 2012. Mykonos! I spent the whole day sleeping in my room and it was one of the best naps I have ever had! I only went out at around 4 pm to wander around the whole town proper (it was a small one), took photos and watched the sunset while eating Fererro Rocher gelatto and later on Gyros for dinner.

4. Where can your budget take you?
The internet blogs will feed you so many things to do and at the end of the day you are already overwhelmed and your budget has turned from the original $200 to $500.
So plan well, list all the things you really want to see, in order of importance to you and not to your friends on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Prioritize. How much are you willing to spend on transportation, accommodation, food and activities.
Most of all, never forget your emergency fund (be it cash, debit or credit card). Mine are 2 contacts: My 2 brothers are my emergency lifelines. They helped me all through out when my ATM card got blocked even though I informed my bank that I would be traveling for a month. But then I spent $650 for a bag in one swipe. My bank knows I don't spend much so that triggered them. Good service though.
5. Who do you want to be with?
Solo Traveling? Duo? With friends of Family Members? Get the pro's and con's of traveling solo and with someone because it would be detrimental to having the best or the worst trip of your life.
So far, I have had the best so I couldn't complain. Hiccups here and there but they were all part of the adventure so I am very fortunate to experience different sorts.
Budget-wise, activity wise, traveling wise. Check all sides and it is sure to avoid the negative result.
I started traveling alone. Then with my cousin and Aunt. Then with my brother, then with my brother and cousin, then alone again, then with my brother and Mom. I have yet to travel with friends. It comes with my line of work. I only get to meet them for a lunch or dinner.
And now that I am married, I can't wait to travel with my husband. This would be an interesting blog as my husband is the complete opposite of me, although I am slowly introducing him to the world of traveling. I welcome the challenge (yes it is a challenge!) with open arms.
Planning as the longest and equally important part as your actual trip.
I learned that the more you plan well, the more successful is your trip. I plan 1-2 years ahead of time when I go for a one-month tour in Europe, UK or Canada.
Plan 6 months in advance for a 3-day to 1-week local vacation.
After all the planning that you made, it still wouldn't be enough. So, the planing stops on the first day of the actual trip. After that, anything goes.
A new adventure is a new beginning.
To more happy new beginnings!
